Some
of the Frequently Asked
Questions about Marsland Chassis products, this section is devoted
to the giving you the answers.
How difficult is a standard 88" short wheelbase chassis
change ?
A Series III Land Rover chassis change or rebuild is a major job and
should only be undertaken by mechanics with extensive experience of
Land Rover repairs.
Is
there any welding or cutting involved ?
No welding or cutting should be necessary for a standard chassis
change, however very few chassis changes are standard. Repairs to the
bulkhead or fabricating special brackets for example would probably
necessitate some degree of welding. In addition any seized components
or fastenings may require an Oxyacetylene torch or Angle Grinding equipment
to remove.
Can I order a bolt on gearbox cross member on a standard 88" SWB
?
Yes although this is an special order item and an extra charge will
apply.
Is
it possible to have an auxiliary tank rigger fitted ?
Yes
an auxiliary or left-hand tank rigger can be fitted during manufacture
to allow twin fuel tanks to be fitted, again this is a special order
item and there will be an extra charge.
Can a military rear cross member be fitted to a standard chassis ?
It
is possible to fit a military rear cross member to a standard chassis
and there is no extra charge for this. However in the case of a standard
LWB 109" bear in mind there will be insufficient room to fit a
rear fuel tank because of the additional stay bars from the military
cross member to the chassis. Most
military 109" models have twin tanks underneath the seats.
